7-Eleven, Inc. Reports April 2005 Sales Results; U.S. Same-Store Merchandise Sales Rise 5.7 Percent
DALLAS, May 10, 2005 -- 7-Eleven, Inc. , today reported April 2005 sales results. Total April 2005 sales were $1,109.2 million, an increase of 12.3 percent over April 2004 sales of $987.9 million. Total merchandise sales for April 2005 were $690.7 million, an increase of 6.6 percent over the April 2004 total of $647.7 million. U.S. same-store merchandise sales for April 2005 increased 5.7 percent, on top of an 8.2 percent increase in April 2004.
Gasoline sales for April 2005 were $418.5 million, a 23.0 percent increase compared to $340.2 million in the prior-year period. Average gallons sold per store decreased 0.7 percent in April 2005 compared to an increase of 8.8 percent in April 2004. The average retail price of a gallon of gasoline for April 2005 was $2.28, compared to $1.84 in April 2004.
Year-to-Date Results
The results below compare year-to-date results through April 2005 to the same period last year:
* U.S. same-store merchandise sales have grown 4.9 percent, on top of 6.6 percent for 2004. * Merchandise sales total $2,564.3 million, an increase of 5.1 percent. * Gasoline sales total $1,492.9 million, an increase of 17.7 percent. * Average gallons sold per store have increased 0.7 percent, on top of 7.6 percent for 2004. * The average retail price of a gallon of gasoline is $2.05, compared to $1.73 in 2004. When determining the same-store merchandise sales calculation, the company includes the merchandise sales of both its U.S. company-owned and franchise- operated stores if they were operating for all days of the periods being compared. New stores, relocated stores or rebuilt stores are not included in the same-store sales calculation until they have recorded merchandise sales for all days of the periods being compared.
