ARDC Match Race Highlights Action at SSP on Thursday Night
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (May 9, 2005) – This Thursday night, May 12, the Racing
Miller Sisters, Tracy and Michelle, will take on their father, Mike Miller, in
a special 5-lap ARDC Midget Match race. The Sprint Cars and Xtreme Stock
Cars will be in action. With a record 107 racecars in the pits last week,
defending Sprint Car champion Fred Rahmer from Salfordville picked up his first
Susquehanna Speedway Park win of the season last Thursday evening. In
other action, Tom Johns won the Xtreme Stock Car feature, Ronnie Dunstan won in
Legends Cars action and Cheryl Howsare was victorious in the inaugural W.O.W.
(Women on Wheels) feature event.
Greg Hodnett from Memphis, TN continues to lead the SSP point championship
with four podium finishes in the first four events (1 – 1st, 1 – 2nd, 2 -
3rd). David Wilhelm of Havre de Grace, MD also continues his early season
dominance of the Xtreme Stock Car class with four straight top five finishes (1
- 1st, 1- 2nd and 2 - 4th). The last three finishes came from starting
deep in the rear of the starting lineup. Wilhelm is the only driver to collect
the double bonus money this season. Opening night winner Jerry Blauch of
Grantville moved into second place in the point championship followed by Michael
Goodwin in third. The Xtreme Stock Car drivers eligible for the double purse
money bonus are Johns, Wilhelm, Blauch, Bryon Sipe and Tommy Slanker. These
drivers will automatically start at the rear of the feature event, and if
any or all of these drivers make it into the top five finishing spots, then
that driver will receive double purse money for that position. These drivers
will also compete in the 4-lap Pepsi Challenge Dash paying $50.00 to the
winner. The Xtreme Stock Car feature event has also been increased to 25 laps.
Gates open in the pit area and grandstands at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at
7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand ticket
prices are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12) $4.00;
and Children (5 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $20.00. The
raindate will be Sunday, May 8 with the same time schedule.
SSP continues its Repeat Fan Discount in which there will be a $2.00
discount for each person with a ticket stub from the May 5 event only. For example,
$2.00 off an Adult ticket for May 12 with and Adult ticket stub from the May
5 event. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and
phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings to be
held during the season for great prizes. Last season, the grand prize was two
tickets to the NASCAR race in October at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in
Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4
