Delphi Names New General Motors Customer Director

High Level of Global Customer Service to Continue

TROY, Mich., May 9 -- Delphi Corp. announced today the appointment of David A. Burgner as Delphi's new global customer director for General Motors Corp., the largest customer account for Delphi. Burgner succeeds Nancy Gougarty and will be responsible for leading Delphi's existing GM account team personnel to coordinate Delphi's sales and service activities in support of GM.

Burgner, 55, is currently Delphi Mechatronic Systems business line executive at Delphi Packard Electric Systems. He moved to that position in May 2003 following his assignment as managing director, Delphi Packard Electric Systems Europe, Middle East & Africa and Delphi Interior Systems Europe, based in Paris. He will report to Tim Richards, vice president, sales and marketing, and coordinate activities with Dave Wohleen, Delphi vice chairman and GM customer champion. The appointment is effective May 16, 2005.

"Over his more than 30 years in the automotive industry, David's diverse experience has taken him across four Delphi divisions, including assignments as project engineer, production foreman, sales and advanced vehicle systems development," said Wohleen. "Combined with his international experience spanning more than a decade, he is exceptionally well suited to drive Delphi toward a high level of global customer service and exceed GM's expectations."

In order to ensure a smooth transition, Burgner and Gougarty will jointly coordinate activities over the next few months. Gougarty's future assignment will be announced at a later date.

Background

Burgner holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Rose- Hulman Institute and obtained a master's degree in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology under a Sloan Fellowship.

In 1982, he returned to Packard Electric in Warren, Ohio, as supervisor of product engineering. A year later, he became the program manager responsible for the NUMMI account, and then was named manager of advanced vehicle systems in 1986 and plant manager in 1987.

Burgner joined the Saginaw Division, now Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems, in 1990 as plant manager. Before joining the Delphi Packard team in 1996, Burgner was director of Delphi Chassis' European operations.
