AAA Texas `Talking' Car Will Make His Debut in Fort Worth Independent School District; Otto the Auto Teaches Students about Pedestrian Safety
--WHAT: Otto the Auto, a three-foot-tall, brightly colored talking car, will make his debut before several hundred elementary students in the Fort Worth area on Thursday, May 5th. Otto the Auto is a free traffic safety program that is provided to school-aged children courtesy of AAA Texas. WHEN: Thursday, May 5, 2005 WHERE: Atwood McDonald Elementary School 1850 Barron Lane (Fort Worth, TX) Otto will give two presentations: 1.) Start: Noon End: 12:45 PM 2.) Start: 12:45 PM End: 1:30 PM Note: Media may attend any of the sessions above. WHY: Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death in the U.S. for children aged five through 12. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Dallas has the fifth highest pedestrian fatality rates in the United States when compared to other large cities.
