AK Steel Announces May Surcharges
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio, April 28 -- AK Steel has advised its flat-rolled carbon steel customers that a $218 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for products shipped in May 2005. AK Steel has also advised its electrical steel customers that a $215 per ton surcharge will be added to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in May 2005. AK Steel's surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the March 2005 purchase cost used to determine the May 2005 surcharges.
In addition, effective with orders entered May 1, 2005 and later, AK Steel will increase pricing extras for Interstitial-Free (I-F) carbon steel grades by $1.50/cwt ($30.00/ton) due to the extraordinary increase in the price of titanium.
