Second Practice Session for the Indy Japan 300
Montreal, April 28, 2005 - Patrick Carpentier completed his second
practice session for the Indy Japan 300, Round 4 of the Indy Car
Series 2005 to be held Saturday at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan.
Carpentier finished 13th for the session and overall on the day. He
posted his best lap time around the 2.414-kilometre (1.5-mile) Twin
Ring oval track in 27.5751 seconds. The Red Bull Cheever Racing
driver averaged 319.359 km/h. His teammate Alex Barron finished one
position behind him.
Fastest driver of the day was Helio Castroneves with a lap time of
26.9071 seconds (327.285 km/h). The Brazilian driver edged British
driver Dan Wheldon by seven hundredths of a second. Third quickest
was Dario Franchitti of Scotland, followed by Brazilian Tony Kanaan
and US driver Sam Hornish Jr., quickest in the first session.
Drivers will return on track Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time
for the third practice session of the weekend. A news bulletin will
follow the third session
