ZAP Multi-Purpose Portable Energy Products Now Available through Target.com Online Shopping Website

SANTA ROSA, Calif.--April 26, 2005--ZAP (OTCBB:ZAPZ), pioneering the next generation of advanced transportation and energy technologies, announced today that it has signed a distribution agreement with Target Corporation for its unique multi-function line of portable batteries. Steve Schneider, CEO of ZAP, made the announcement.

ZAP Portable Energy products are now available online at www.Target.com. The flexible, multi-use, rechargeable battery technology developed by the ZAP Energy division is a power solution for mobile electronics. The batteries deliver up to four times the power of typical portable batteries. Additionally, ZAP's proprietary "smart charge" controller can detect and deliver voltages for a wide range of electronic devices, from gadgets as small as a cell phone to devices as large as a laptop. ZAP Portable Energy batteries are available in three sizes. Shoppers can now order the products online at http://www.target.com, using the keyword "ZAP Portable Energy."

In addition to its superior energy density, ZAP's proprietary lithium battery technology provides unique flexibility, enabling users to recharge the batteries on many different devices with a single ZAP battery. This capability is designed to provide important convenience for users of mobile electronics, including cell phones and laptops, who must constantly monitor battery charge levels. ZAP recently launched European sales of ZAP Portable Energy products at the CeBIT trade show in Hannover, Germany. CeBit, one of the world's largest technology industry expositions, focuses on the latest products in information technology, electronics and other next-generation products.

The synergy between advanced automotive and energy technology has prompted ZAP to expand its energy ZAP Energy division to focus and capitalize on opportunities to create new power sources for powering ZAP vehicles, including advanced battery, hydrogen fuel cell and other advanced energy technologies. In January, ZAP announced that it has established a joint venture in China to expand its efforts to develop and manufacture advanced energy and transportation technologies. ZAP took an equity position in Zibo Enterprises Co. Ltd., a manufacturer of advanced battery technology in The People's Republic of China. ZAP has licensed its trademark to Zibo Enterprises to create the ZAP brand of battery systems and has licensed for the exclusive distribution. Under the terms of the agreement, ZAP grants Zibo Enterprises the use of ZAP's trademarks in exchange for royalties on the global distribution of ZAP Portable Energy(TM) and future products co-developed by ZAP and Zibo Enterprises. Under the agreement, ZAP grants licensing for the trademarks ZAP(R), ZAP!(R) and Zapworld.com(R).
