Lots of Action at SSP on Thursday
One-on-One Street Car Drags & Classic Cars at SSP on Thursday
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (April 25, 2005) – This Thursday night, April 28, the
One-on-One Street Car Drags and Classic Cars return to the Susquehanna Speedway
Park for the first time this season. Also featured will be the weekly SSP
divisions of Sprint Cars and the Xtreme Stock Cars. Greg Hodnett from Memphis,
TN and David Wilhelm of Havre de Grace, MD picked up feature wins last
Thursday in the Sprint Cars and Xtreme Stock Cars classes respectively. A
Pennsylvania Sprint Car driver has yet to win at SSP in 2005 as Jason Johnson of
Eunice, LA picked up the season opener two weeks ago. Jerry Blauch is the only
Pennsylvania resident to win a feature event at SSP in 2005 with the Xtreme
Stock Car opener.
The One-On-One Street Car Drags will feature a competition between street
legal cars and trucks right off the street. Races will be from a dead start
with two participants starting side-by-side. They will take one lap around
the track with the winner advancing to the next round and the loser eliminated
from the competition. The final race will see the two “survivors?? in a
winner-take-all paying $250.00. Entry forms for the One-on-One Street Car Drags
may be obtained by calling (717) 292-1696, visiting www.sspracing.net or at
the pit gate on the day of the event. Bob the Undertaker from Tombstone, AZ is
the first entry for next week’s event with his 1979 Cadillac Hearse. The
first prize is $250.00.
The Xtreme Stock Car drivers eligible for the double purse money bonus are
David Wilhelm, Mark Vegh, Mike Mixell, Adam Smith and Travis Horan. These
drivers will automatically start at the rear of the feature event, and if any or
all of these drivers make it into the top five finishing spots, then that
driver will receive double purse money for that position. These drivers will
also compete in the 4-lap Pepsi Challenge Dash paying $50.00 to the winner.
Gates open in the pit area and grandstands at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at
7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand ticket
prices are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12) $4.00;

reduced price of $18.00 for all track license holders. The raindate will be
Sunday, May 1 with the same time schedule.
SSP continues its Repeat Fan Discount in which there will be a $2.00
discount for each person with a ticket stub from the April 21 event only. For
example, $2.00 off an Adult ticket for April 28 with and Adult ticket stub from
the April 21 event. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address
and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings
to be held during the season for great prizes. Last season, the grand prize
was two tickets to the NASCAR race in October at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in
Charlotte, North Carolina.
