Goodyear Receives General Motors Supplier Award

AKRON, Ohio, April 25 -- General Motors Corporation awarded The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company with a 2004 "Supplier of the Year Award for Tires" in a ceremony held Saturday at GM's Vehicle Engineering Center in Warren, MI.

GM's Bo Andersson, vice president of global purchasing and supply chain, noted, "Only suppliers that drive to be world class and exceed GM's expectation in quality, service, technology and price win this award." This year, fewer than 80 suppliers were selected for a top supplier award from GM.

Goodyear Chairman Bob Keegan and Mike Parnell, Goodyear's vice president of original equipment for North American Tire, attended the supplier awards event.

"We are proud to earn recognition associated with supplying a valued customer with quality tires and service. This is a great honor for the many associates at Goodyear who contribute to the success of our original equipment supply objectives. From product development engineers, to sales account personnel, to those building and shipping the tires, we focus on being the best in class when it comes to product supply and quality," Parnell said.

Goodyear-manufactured tires are fitted as original equipment for many GM vehicles, including the Chevrolet Corvette, Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet TrailBlazer.

Goodyear tires are original equipment on many vehicles from Acura, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hummer, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jeep, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercury, Nissan, Pontiac and Toyota. Traditionally, more new vehicles in North America are equipped with Goodyear tires than any other brand.
