IRVING, Texas--April 22, 2005--Gasoline prices in Texas moved lower for the
second consecutive week, according to AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.
In Texas, the current average is $2.128 a gallon - a four cent weekly decrease. The current average is 44.8 cents higher than last year's average price of $1.690 a gallon.
Corpus Christi has the lowest average at $2.077 a gallon - a drop of seven cents. Dallas has the highest average at 2.154 - down two pennies.
"For the first time in seven weeks, all cities surveyed posted weekly price decreases," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "The lower gas price is mostly due to a drop in the price of crude oil which sold for $57 a barrel at the end of March."
The national average for regular self-serve gasoline is $2.218 a gallon - down four pennies.
AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch monitors the average price of gasoline at popular destinations for automobile trips.
