At the first press day of Auto Shanghai 2005 the new Maybach 57 S celebrates its Asia Premiere. "China is one of this region's key markets. This is why we strive to continuously expand the Maybach brand's presence in this country," explains Dr. Thomas Weber, member of the DaimlerChrysler Board responsible for Research and Technology and Development of Mercedes Car Group.
"Maybach," says Dr. Weber, "builds automobiles for enthusiasts. This is especially true for our new Maybach 57 S which we present in Shanghai as a truly dynamic high-end limousine designed for ambitioned drivers who seek the ultimate in motoring. The 57 S features a V12 cylinder Bi-Turbo engine that was extensively refined by Mercedes-AMG and now delivers an output of 450 kW/612 HP. Its maximum torque amounts to 1000 Newtonmeters. The suspension was also tuned to accommodate the additional power. Thanks to these measures the high-end luxury limousine demonstrates superior driving performance.
Maybach will offer the new 57 S as of fall 2005 in Asia and Europe. As of the beginning of 2006 it will also arrive in the North American markets.
