Delphi Showcases Technology to Enhance Driving Experience at Shanghai Auto Show
Delphi display highlights technology tied to show theme "Better Auto, Better Life"
SHANGHAI, China, April 19 -- Delphi Corp. will use the upcoming Auto Shanghai show to display its latest product offerings that help make driver's lives easier, safer and more comfortable.
"Our display at the Shanghai show perfectly ties into the theme of the show, 'Better Auto, Better Life'," said Choon T. Chon, president Delphi Asia- Pacific. "Visitors to Delphi's booth will see the latest technology that will enhance their driving experience while increasing safety and comfort levels."
The Auto Shanghai show is being held April 21 - 28 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. Delphi's display is located at booth E2/B10.
Delphi technology on display includes: Touch Screen Navigation
Delphi simplifies using a navigation system with its integrated navigation radio. The system allows a driver to use a touch screen with intuitive displays to input destination information. Once the information is stored and an address is located, Delphi's system provides visual and voice-guided turn- by-turn directions as users drive to selected destinations.
The system displays trip information, including time and distance to a destination. It also quickly remaps a final destination with new directions if a user misses a turn. The Integrated Navigation Radio also helps users locate a wide variety of points of interest such as parks, gas stations, ATMs, restaurants, recreation areas, hotels, grocery stores and many others.
Air Conditioning Systems
Delphi's new clutchless Compact Variable Compressor (CVC) -- the heart of a vehicle's air conditioning system -- features energy-efficient electronic control in place of traditional fixed or internally controlled variable displacement. The result is improved cabin comfort, enabled significant energy savings and smaller packaging.
Electronic Stability Control
Delphi's ESC helps reduce or prevent vehicle spins and excessive understeer. Individual wheel brake and engine intervention assist the driver in reducing the difference between the driver's requested direction and the actual vehicle direction. ESC also integrates anti-lock braking and traction control systems. The ESC algorithm determines when and how to activate the system, based on data from an additional sensor set. The brake modulator applies corrective yaw moments through individual wheel brake control to bring the vehicle back toward the driver's requested direction.
MagneRide
Delphi's MagneRide(R) is a high-performance, semi-active control system that responds in real time to road and driving conditions, based on input from sensors that monitor body and wheel motions. This proven system provides fast, smooth and continuously variable damping in a cost effective and reliable package that helps reduce body motion and increase tire to road contact on all types of surfaces.
Smart Cruise Control
Delphi's Forewarn Smart Cruise Control with Headway Alert uses a long- range radar sensor to detect objects in the vehicle's path up to 150 meters or 402 feet ahead. The system helps to reduce the need for drivers to manually adjust speed or disengage cruise control when encountering slower traffic. Using the vehicle's braking and throttle systems, Smart Cruise Control with Headway Alert automatically manages vehicle speed to maintain a time gap (following distance) set by the driver.
The system can also help alert drivers when slower traffic is detected in the vehicle's path. When the Headway Alert system is active, audible and visual alerts warn the driver when braking is necessary to avoid slower moving vehicles ahead.
MyFi
The Delphi MyFi is the industry's first personal and portable XM satellite radio with an integrated rechargeable battery, built-in antenna and wireless FM transmitter. MyFi's revolutionary technology gives users the personal freedom to enjoy XM's Ultimate PlayList of more than 130 digital channels, effortlessly, through a "live" listening mode or a time-shifting "My XM" memory mode which allows users to store up to five hours of XM's outstanding content with the press of a button.
