Autosport Development Atlanta Qualifying Report
GMAC / Trenton Forging #5 GTO Road Atlanta Qualifying Report
Hayner will start 14th in World Challenge GT race Round 3
Braselton, Ga. – April 16, 2005 Stu Hayner, in the #5 GMAC Commercial
Finance / Trenton Forging GTO will start 14th in Sunday’s SCCA Pro
Racing SPEED World Challenge GT race. The series is running as part of
the Sportsbook.com Grand Prix at Road Atlanta, in Braselton, Ga., April
15-17. The race will run at 8:55am EST and air on SPEED Channel
same-day tape delay at 1pm.
“The car is really coming along,” said Hayner. “There are some
adjustments we can do here and a few things we’ll want to change back
at the shop. We ran our fastest time of the weekend in qualifying… but
so did everyone else. I’m pleased with our times, though and we’re
faster each time out. The entire field is pretty close and we’re right
in the middle of a pretty fast group of cars.”
“When you look at our qualifying time,” Hayner continued, “it’s a time
we can run all day long. Looking at the cars around us, I’m not sure
they can all say the same. If we can get a good start and get through
the first lap cleanly, I think we can move up and end the day with a
strong finish. Everyone is pretty close, so hopefully, cooler heads
will prevail and we will see some good clean racing. Our guys have the
GTO set up fairly neutral and I think the car will handle well in
traffic. It should be a good weekend for us.”
The team will also participate in off-track activities with hospitality
programs for guests from GMAC Commercial Finance in Atlanta and in
conjunction with Chili Pepper racing will entertain families from the
Lighthouse Retreat, a seaside family retreat established to serve
families caring for children with cancer.
The SPEED World Challenge GT race takes the green flag on Sunday, April
17 at 8:55am and will air on SPEED Channel tape delayed at 1:pm. The
Touring Car race will air live on Saturday, April 16 at 4pm.
