Pedregon Makes Sure Car is in Top Condition for 'The Strip'
Las Vegas, Nev. (April 16, 2005) - After one more day of qualifying at The
Strip At Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Tony Pedregon will start from the fifth
spot during tomorrow¹s NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals.
Pedregon's Friday night pass of 4.813 seconds at 318.92 mph kept the Q
Racing Monte Carlo Nitro Funny Car in a good starting position for the last
day of racing in Las Vegas. Saturday's higher temperatures kept the cars
from running better speeds.
"We would have liked to qualify better," said Pedregon. "We have recovered
from the last two races, (Crew Chief) Dickie Venables, and I know we can
race anyone, anytime. We have a good car and good products to back us up.
"For tomorrow, we plan to polish off all of our electronics and change a
couple of ignition switches. My team is going to through all the details of
the car thoroughly and make sure that everything is in order. We will be
ready to race," concluded Pedregon.
Pedregon will face Whit Bazemore, No. 12 qualifier, in the first round of
eliminations, which begin at 11 a.m.
