Southern California Volvo Retailers Team Up With Cycles Veloce for 2005

IRVINE, Calif., April 15 -- Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA) & Southern California Volvo retailers will be a sponsor of Cycles Veloce, during 2005. The relationship is consistent with Volvo's commitment to people who embrace life as well as its rich tradition in cycling.

Since its inception in 1982, Cycles Veloce, meaning "Fast Cyclist" in Italian, has quickly gained a national reputation for grooming young up-and-coming talent and preparing them for the pro ranks, Olympians and national champions among them.

The team, now including the Volvo brand, is devoted to growing the sport of competitive cycling and furthering the notion that cycling is a healthful and environmentally-friendly sport -- no air nor water pollution, just plain physical activity in the great out-of-doors.

VCNA's recent support of cycling activities is in evidence with its charity partner, Best Buddies. Best Buddies and Volvo Cars of North America put on last year's "Volvo Hearst Castle Challenge," and the "Volvo Hyannis Port Challenge" the year before. Both bicycle rides were fund, and attention, raisers for the Best Buddies organization, which enhances the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
