Amicus Supports North West Company Affected by Longbridge

LONDON, April 14 -- AAT suppliers of car components to MG Rover have announced 40% reduction in their workforce and recommending short time working.

Amicus Britain's largest private sector union met with management at AAT, Accrington yesterday (Wednesday 13th April) to discuss a proposed 60 job losses and short time working week. AAT have confirmed the reduction in the working week will take effect from Monday 18th April.

Amicus is extremely disappointed that the Company has found it necessary to take this decision and will endeavour to ensure that job losses are kept to a minimum.

Amicus Regional Officer, Jack Brassington said: "We are in consultation with the company and are taking every step to avoid compulsory redundancies. We are hopeful that this can be achieved."
