Ellis advances to second round
Gains two spots in point battle

BAYTOWN, Texas (April 10, 2005) - By advancing to the quarterfinal
round of eliminations at the 18th annual NHRA O'Reilly Spring Nationals,
Chip Ellis, aboard the G Squared/S&S Buell, picked up two spots in the
POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle point standings.

In the opening round of eliminations, a bizarre round that saw the top
three qualifiers lose, Ellis turned back Scott Valetti with an elapsed
time of 7.241.

In the second round, Kurt Matte, who had defeated Chris Rivas in the
opening round, was away first at the green then pulled away from Ellis
to take the win light. Ellis recorded a pass of 7.236 seconds at 180.21
to 7.201 seconds at 182.55 for Matte.

"I think we had the bike to beat. This G Squared/S&S Buell really came
around yesterday. I got my timing messed up at the start and it caused
additional problems all the way down the track. The only thing I can
say is that we'll shake it off and go after them again in Atlanta," said
Ellis.

"It's always disappointing when you don't turn on the win light," said
George Smith, who along with George Bryce are partners and co-owners of
G Squared Motorsports. "We have a good package, we have a good rider.
All we can do is go back, regroup and try to improve our report card.
We'll once again shoot for straight A's in Atlanta."

"We made the wrong tune up calls for first round but Chip drove it
really well and got the win light," said Bryce. "In the second round,
miscues at the starting line got us behind and we never recovered.

"We'll review our data and learn everything right and everything wrong
that happened to this G Squared/S&S-powered Buell. We'll then correct
what we did wrong and do better in Atlanta."

After two of 15 events, Ellis has 88 points and is tied for eighth in
the battle for the Pro Stock Motorcycle championship.
