G Squared in field after first day of qualifying
Look to tomorrow to improve

BAYTOWN, Texas (April 8, 2005) - The first day of qualifying wrapped up
for Pro Stock Motorcycles at the 18th annual NHRA O'Reilly Spring
Nationals with Chip Ellis occupying the No. 15 spot on the qualifying
grid.

Ellis, aboard the G Squared/S&S-powered Buell, covered the Houston
Raceway Park quarter-mile in 7.217 seconds at 182.43 mph in Friday's
evening session.

"We ran a lot better in the last session today," said Ellis, "but we
still didn't get the number we wanted. It's a given and a must that we
run better tomorrow."

G Squared Motorsports owners and partners George Bryce and George Smith
were optimistic about their progress.

""We expected to do more with our run tonight," said Smith, "but feel
there is still a lot more left in this G2/S&S Buell. It will be up to
us to find the right combination for tomorrow's two passes so that we
can move further into contention and qualify in the top half of the field.

"We're really pleased with the runs of the other Buells. Chris Rivas,
aboard the Mohegan Sun motorcycle, had an outstanding run in this last
qualifying session and Ryan Schnitz put together two good passes today.
Also, our hats are off to Matt Guidera on the Rockland HD Buell as he
made his first full lap in competition and there will be continued
improve for this team both at this event and in the future."

At the end of Friday's qualifying, Chris Rivas was No. 3 with a run of
7.111 seconds at 186.72 seconds. Ryan Schnitz clicked off two stout
passes -- the first was an elapsed time of 7.152 seconds at 188.89 mph,
followed by an even better 7.120 seconds at 188.78 mph. Schnitz is now
No. 4. In his best pass to date, Matt Guidera stopped the finish line
clocks in 7.641 seconds.

"I thought we did better than a 21 (7.21 seconds)," said Bryce
immediately following the run. "It left good and I heard Chip go
through all the gears, so I was surprised by the number. We'll check
our data. I fully expect better number tomorrow. We need to throw our
best at the track in the final two qualifying sessions."

SCHEDULE: With Smith, Bryce and Ken Johnson calling the tuning shots,
qualifying for Ellis and the G Squared S&S Buell concludes with two
