OSRAM to Discuss Latest Developments in LED Lighting at 2005 SAE World Congress
DETROIT, April 8 -- Thomas Tessnow, OSRAM applications senior scientist, will present a technical white paper entitled "LED Headlamp Standardization" during a four-part lighting technology series at the 2005 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) World Congress. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, April 12 at 10:15 a.m. in Detroit's Cobo Hall, room W2- 63.
Authored by Tessnow, in partnership with Michael Tucker, OSRAM applications group manager, and Dr. Thomas Reiners, automotive applications center manager, the white paper discusses the performance attributes of light emitting diodes (LEDs) versus traditional light sources, the benefits of LED standardization in automotive lighting and the technical challenges facing LED forward lighting applications, particularly thermal management.
OSRAM is a leader in automotive LED technology and pioneered standardized automotive LED systems. The white paper highlights the latest OSRAM technological innovation, the standardized LED forward lighting system.
"OSRAM's standardized LED forward lighting system provides improved control of optical tolerances and allows OEMs to achieve greater economies of scale through standardization," said Tessnow, who will demonstrate the system during his white paper presentation.
The standardized LED forward lighting system uses OSRAM OSTAR(TM) LED light sources that can each generate about 300 lumens of light output. OSTAR devices, which can also be used for non-standard LED lighting applications, provide the highest LED light source luminance available for optical systems in automotive forward lighting.
Since 1947, SAE World Congress has been the world's largest meeting and exposition devoted to automotive engineering and product technology. OSRAM will be among the industry's best and brightest automotive, technical and business talent to meet and exchange ideas with their peers concerning the future of automotive lighting technologies.
