7-Eleven, Inc. Reports March 2005 Sales Results; U.S. Same-Store Merchandise Sales Rise 3.5 Percent

DALLAS, April 8 -- 7-Eleven, Inc. , today reported March 2005 sales results. Total March 2005 sales were $1,070.3 million, an increase of 9.5 percent over March 2004 sales of $977.4 million. Total merchandise sales for March 2005 were $669.1 million, an increase of 4.6 percent over the March 2004 total of $639.9 million. U.S. same-store merchandise sales for March 2005 increased 3.5 percent, on top of a 7.3 percent increase in March 2004.

Gasoline sales for March 2005 were $401.2 million, an 18.9 percent increase compared to $337.5 million in the prior-year period. Average gallons sold per store increased 1.2 percent in March 2005 compared to an increase of 7.7 percent in March 2004. The average retail price of a gallon of gasoline for March 2005 was $2.11, compared to $1.79 in March 2004.

Year-to-Date Results

The results below compare year-to-date results through March 2005 to the same period last year:

   *  U.S. same-store merchandise sales have grown 4.6 percent, on top of
      6.1 percent for 2004.
   *  Merchandise sales total $1,873.6 million, an increase of 4.5 percent.
   *  Gasoline sales total $1,074.4 million, an increase of 15.8 percent.
   *  Average gallons sold per store have increased 1.2 percent, on top of
      7.2 percent for 2004.
   *  The average retail price of a gallon of gasoline is $1.97, compared to
      $1.70 in 2004.

  First Quarter 2005

7-Eleven, Inc. will release financial results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2005, before the market opens on Tuesday, April 26, 2005. U.S. Same-Store Merchandise Sales Calculation

When determining the same-store merchandise sales calculation, the company includes the merchandise sales of both its U.S. company-owned and franchise- operated stores if they were operating for all days of the periods being compared. New stores, relocated stores or rebuilt stores are not included in the same-store sales calculation until they have recorded merchandise sales for all days of the periods being compared.
