Modine Named for Sixth Consecutive Year to ''100 Best Corporate Citizens'' List by Business Ethics Magazine

RACINE, Wis.--April 7, 2005--Modine Manufacturing Company , a worldwide leader in the research and development of thermal management solutions, announced today it has been named one of the "100 Best Corporate Citizens" for 2005 by Business Ethics Magazine. This is the sixth year of the closely-watched list and the sixth year that Modine has been named as one of the best companies. The "100 Best" has gained national recognition as an indicator of best practices in the area of corporate social responsibility.

"It is an honor for Modine to be named again to this list in 2005," said David Rayburn, Modine President and Chief Executive Officer. "We place a strong emphasis on all of our stakeholders, from customers, investors and suppliers to our employees, our communities, and civic and public leaders. This recognition is a reinforcement that we are focusing effectively in these important stakeholder categories. I want to thank our employees and those we work with for their efforts that contributed to our Company's performance in each of the categories on which we were judged."

Modine is ranked 78th this year, and scored very high in the environment category, tying for third. "We have always had a commitment to the environment and that's something Business Ethics recognizes," said Gary Fahl, Modine's Environmental, Health and Safety Officer. "One example is our recent achievement of implementing a global Environmental Management System (EMS) at 26 of our manufacturing facilities. All 26 facilities implemented the EMS based on the internationally recognized ISO 14001 standard and were certified by a third party auditor."

"What distinguishes the 100 Best Corporate Citizens from their peers is a commitment to higher standards," said Marjorie Kelly, Editor of Business Ethics Magazine. "The list represents the top 10 percent of Russell 1000 firms when it comes to corporate social responsibility - those that perform to a higher standard in serving a variety of stakeholders with excellence and integrity."

The "100 Best Corporate Citizens" survey is based on a database maintained by KLD Research & Analytics, a Boston-based social research firm. All companies listed on the Russell 1000 Index - the 1000 largest publicly-traded companies in the United States - are considered. The KLD data is then statistically analyzed, and companies receive rankings in eight different categories: total return to stockholders, community, governance, diversity, employees, environment, human rights and product. Each company then receives an overall score based on their scores in the eight different issue areas.

"Business Ethics Magazine conducts this annual survey because we believe the information is important to analysts, investors, consumers and the public," said Michael Connor, Publisher and Executive Editor of the magazine. "Business ethics and corporate social responsibility are increasingly important factors in measuring corporate performance, and there is a surge in demand for information and perspective on these issues."
