Chili Pepper St. Petersburg Race Report
St. Petersburg, Fla. Jim Osborn, driver of the Thompson Children’s
Hospital/Remote Area Medical/Trenton Forging #24 BMW 325ci Touring Car
finished 9th in Sunday’s Round 2 of the SPEED World Challenge Touring
Car series race St. Petersburg, Florida. This was Osborn’s first top 10
finish since the debut of the Chili Pepper Racing #24 car in 2002.
“The Chili Pepper crew did a great job of prepping the car,” Osborn
continued. “Mid-race I had a nice run with Altenburg before he got by
me. Then late in the race I was getting a lot of pressure from one of
the RealTime Racing Acuras. Having a well setup car gives you
confidence to push it a little harder. I was banging the rev-limiter on
that long front stretch trying to hold him off. Today was a lot of
fun.”
“We have been very close to a top-10 finish several times but have
fallen short for various reasons,” said Osborn. “We knew it was just a
matter of time. We are so happy it could be at the St. Petersburg
course.”
The 1.8 mile street course with its unforgiving concrete barriers, left
little room for mistakes. The course took its toll on a number of
competitors. However, the #24 BMW came away undamaged and ready for
Round 3 at Road Atlanta April 15-17th.
Remote Area Medical is a non-profit, volunteer, airborne relief corps
dedicated to serving mankind by providing free health care, eye care,
veterinary services and educational assistance to people in remote
areas of the United States and the World. The need to get medical care

all too well while living 15 years with the Wapishana Indians in the
Amazon rain forest. His deep desire to find a way to take health care
to people who had none was the seed of R.A.M. Since 1985, R.A.M. and
21,688 volunteers have provided free health care to 245,255 patients,
59,859 animals. In those 20 years, they have provided over $20 million
