GEICO Opens New Jersey Claims Center in Marlton, N.J.
WASHINGTON, April 5 -- GEICO officially announced this morning the opening of its New Jersey Claims Center at 8000 Lincoln Drive East in Marlton, N.J. The center will be housed on the third floor of the Brandywine Realty Trust property and includes 18,000 square feet of space, two training areas, and room for expansion.
In August 2004, GEICO announced its reentry into the New Jersey market after nearly a 30-year absence. Since then, the company has sold more than 180,000 policies to New Jersey drivers. The GEICO New Jersey Claims Center will provide customers greater flexibility with all New Jersey policyholders receiving claims, sales and service assistance around the clock.
"We are very proud to be in New Jersey," said Tony Nicely, GEICO's president and CEO. "We'd like to think that the GEICO New Jersey Claims Center is not only good news for GEICO, but for Marlton and the rest of the state."
GEICO currently employs nearly 90 associates in New Jersey, including close to three dozen field adjustors already on the ground and a large group of interns in training.
In addition to job growth, the new GEICO operation is also expected to be a positive factor for the New Jersey business climate.
"GEICO is a New Jersey economic development success story," said Commerce Secretary Virginia S. Bauer. "The opening of the company's claims facility in South Jersey demonstrates the viability of the state's business climate because we can attract firms, create jobs and generate economic activity. It's a win for everyone."
Joining Secretary Bauer as honorary guests were the Honorable Donald Bryan, acting commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance; the Honorable Augustus Tamburro, mayor of the Township of Evesham; and Gerard Sweeney, Brandywine Realty Trust president and CEO.
Gerard H. Sweeney, president and CEO of Brandywine Realty Trust, commented, "Brandywine Realty Trust is extremely proud to announce that GEICO is expanding in the New Jersey marketplace. This is great news for the state of New Jersey that a company of GEICO's stature is planning such a significant investment in the state. We're proud to add them to our distinguished tenant base."
Along with Mr. Nicely, GEICO's Robert Miller, senior vice president and head of Northeast operations, was on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Also attending from GEICO were Don Lyons, senior vice president; Rich Jeffares, assistant vice president of claims for GEICO's Northeast operations; John Zinno, assistant vice president and manager of GEICO's Buffalo operation; and Hank Nayden, vice president and legislative council. Laura Mason, the manager of the GEICO New Jersey Claims Center, was also present.
