BorgWarner Supplies Chain Timing System to New, More Powerful DCX Hemi

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 5 -- BorgWarner supplies the engine chain timing system to the powerful new DaimlerChrysler 6.1-liter V-8 HEMI engine -- a 425-horsepower engine with the highest specific output of any V-8 engine ever offered by the Chrysler Group. It debuts this spring on the 2005 Chrysler 300 C SRT8.

"The HEMI continues to build momentum for the Chrysler Group, and BorgWarner is pleased to contribute benefits including lower noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) to HEMI-equipped vehicles," said Roger Wood, BorgWarner Morse TEC President and General Manager. "As a global powertrain product leader, we're proud to be associated with this legendary name in engines." The HEMI name refers to the top of the engine's combustion chamber, which is shaped like a hemisphere.

The SRT makes 25 percent more horsepower than the 5.7-liter version in the Chrysler 300 C and Dodge Magnum RT, yet maintains the HEMI's reliability, durability and fuel economy, and meets EPA emissions standards. The engine builds on the foundation laid by the Chrysler Group's popular 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine, for which BorgWarner also supplies the chain timing system as well as the solenoid exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.
