Amerigon Climate Control Seat System Selected to Be Offered as Option in All-New 2006 Buick Lucerne
New Entry-Luxury Sedan Introduced at Recent Chicago Auto Show
DEARBORN, Mich., April 5 -- Amerigon Incorporated today announced that its proprietary Climate Control Seat(TM) (CCS(TM)) system has been selected as an option on the brand new 2006 Buick Lucerne, Buick's entry luxury sedan scheduled to be in showrooms this fall. The Buick Lucerne was introduced in early February at the Chicago Auto Show.
The Lucerne is Buick's newest and most premium model. Along with the CCS system, Lucerne combines several high-level technology and luxury features including a 32-valve V-8 engine, an industry-first front passenger dual depth air bag, heated washer fluid and DVD navigation system. CCS is among these and other technology features, and is the only system on the market that allows the driver and passengers to actively heat and cool their seats individually for comfort in any weather condition at any time of the year.
"We are very pleased to be a part of the Buick line of automobiles, which has a proud history of luxury and innovation," said Amerigon President and Chief Executive Officer Daniel R. Coker. "To be chosen as a feature in the newest of the Buicks, the Buick Lucerne, underscores the added value we believe CCS brings as a vehicle feature. We have worked closely with General Motors in the past and we are committed to expanding our relationship with General Motors in the years ahead."
About the Climate Control Seat(TM) System
Amerigon's proprietary CCS system significantly enhances individual driver and passenger comfort in virtually all climatic conditions by providing cooling and heating to seat occupants, as desired, using a proprietary solid-state heat pump combined with an active, microprocessor-controlled temperature management system. Ambient air is drawn into the system from the cabin of the vehicle and, based on input from individual seat controls and from temperature sensors built into CCS, the system's advanced heat pump heats or cools the air. The heat pump is built around a highly efficient, solid-state thermoelectric device (TED) that rapidly converts electric current into the desired thermal effect (hot or cold).
