Krohn/TRG - Fontana race
action!
The Krohn Racing/TRG cars saw more action than the team wanted in the Rolex
Sports Car Series race at California Speedway. Jörg Bergmeister led the
first part of the race, but a hard hit to the No. 66 Pontiac-powered Riley
Mk XI left him and his co-driver, Christian Fittipaldi, struggling for a
top-10 finish. Their teammates Nic Jönsson and Tracy Krohn were also hurt by
contact with other cars, but were able to finish fifth in the No. 67
Pontiac-Riley.

Jörg Bergmeister, No. 66:
"We had a really, really good car in the beginning with stickers [new tires]
on the car; we were the fastest by quite a bit. I had to slow down because
there was a car ahead of me braking really hard. Then someone hit me and
crashed hard into the rear. Something on the suspension broke and we also
had tire damage. I'm very disappointed."
Christian Fittipaldi, No. 66:
"The team did an awesome job. Everyone worked really well, on top of the
game, especially considering that this team only has three races with this
type of car. Unfortunately, Jörg was punted out and had a flat tire and we
went a lap down. I got the lap back, but there was no time left for us to go
a little more forward. But we definitely had a winning car today."
Nic Jönsson, No. 67:
"It was pretty eventful. As soon as I got in the car, I got hit by a BMW GT
car and it turned me around. That put me all the way back to the end of the
pack, so I started charging from there. I got hit again, by one of the
Porsches. It broke the rear spoiler and the brakes started getting a little
worse. I had to just settle in and make sure we made it to the end."
Tracy Krohn, No. 67:
"The car was extremely good. Nic had a little bad luck in getting involved
with some other traffic and that messed up the spoiler. Otherwise, I think
we would have been very close to a podium. I was able to keep up with
traffic today and the car was very solid through all the high-speed turns,
though we need some work on the lower-speed stuff. It was a good day."
