The TRG crew made a setup change to the No. 64 Team16 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup
car, and gave Brad Coleman extra speed for the Rolex Sports Car Series
qualifying at California Speedway. He and Colin Braun will start Sunday's
race sixth on the GT grid, just ahead of their teammates Marc Bunting and
Andy Lally in the No. 65 Auto Gallery/TRG Porsche.

 

"We had a big understeer, then we would get on the gas and the car would
snap loose," Coleman said. "But we fixed it to where it turns, it barely
snaps, it barely understeers – it was perfect for qualifying. I was out
there hanging with the BMWs, so it was pretty fun!"

Andy Lally recently completed his second race in a Legends car, driving at
Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Ga. Although the race didn't go as
well as he'd hoped, he believes the extra seat time will be valuable. "I'm
still pursuing my short-track career," he joked.

 

"I have an interest in gaining experience and trying to be as versatile as I
can in every aspect. You learn something every time you go racing, as long
as you're paying attention. Those things are always helpful ... and it's a
bunch of fun!"

 

Team16 training

 

Team16 drivers Colin Braun and Brad Coleman have different fitness routines.
Braun trains for two hours every second day, including an hour of running or
bike-riding and an hour of strength training. He also drives his shifter
kart for two hours per day, rain or shine. "I love to work out, especially
driving the go kart!" he said. "I try to keep working out even when we are
traveling – which is hard sometimes – but I want to be as fit as I can."

 

Coleman trains daily, alternating upper- and lower-body workouts, plus
cardiovascular: "I feel that working the upper body is vital if you want to
succeed because it takes a good bit of tensile strength to race cars and if
you aren't strong, you won’t make it the distance. "

 

Cup update

 

Weather precluded Colin Braun's plans to compete in the Grand-Am Cup race at
Fontana. His co-driver, a rookie at Fontana and in the Porsche race car,
decided to forego the race when Thursday testing was cancelled due to high
winds.
