NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Montgomery
Motorsports Park Postponed until July 16-17.
NHRA LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES - NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION
MONTGOMERY MOTORSPORTS PARK
FRIDAY, APRIL 1, 2005
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Due to substantial flooding in the pit area, the
Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event that was scheduled to take place this
weekend at Montgomery Motorsports Park has been postponed. The event
will now take place July 16-17. The rescheduled event will feature time
trials and qualifying on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday.
"This area has received a substantial amount of rain in recent
days and unfortunally it was too much for the ground to take, causing
severe flooding on the grounds. There are 6-8 inches of rain in many of
the areas throughout the pits, making impossible to park all of the
competitors and carry out this weekend's event as planned," said NHRA
Southeast division director, Bill Holt. "It's an unfortunate situation
for all of our devoted racers and fans, but we'll be back in July to put
on a good show."
The next stop on the NHRA Southeast Division tour is South
Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Ga., June 3-4. For more
