SSP Readies for Open Practice & Media Night on Sunday, April 10
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (April 1, 2005) – The Susquehanna Speedway Park is
preparing for its preseason Media & Practice Night on Sunday, April 10 from 6:00
p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The pit and grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m. Drivers and
their teams will have the opportunity to test out the newly reconfigured
turns of the speedway which has more banking for 2005. “We have worked very hard
in the off-season by adding clay to the turns where it was needed and
removing the crest in the middle of turns one and two that was very evident last
season,?? said co-owner Todd Fisher. “This will provide for even more
side-by-side racing in all divisions that compete at SSP this year.?? All types of
full size racecars may attend the open practice which includes Sprint Cars,
Super Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Classic Cars,
Vintage Cars. Even full size racecars that are not currently scheduled at SSP
may participate as all classes will rotate with track time throughout the
evening. The only smaller than full size racecars that will be permitted are the
Legends Cars, Four Cylinders and ARDC Midgets.
Media members will also have the opportunity to speak with the driver and
their car owners in a non-competition setting about the upcoming season and
other issues within the racing community. The grandstands will be open for
free to the public during the practice session. The cost for the pits will be
$10.00 per person with a minimum age requirement of 14 years of age. All pit
entrants who are 14 to 17 years of age must have a release signed by both
parents before they will be permitted in the pits. Please contact the speedway
office in order to receive a Parental Release Form.
Opening night for the 2005 racing season will be Thursday, April 14
featuring the Sprint Cars, the Xtreme Stock Cars and Legends Cars. The raindate will
be Sunday evening, April 17. The Trail Motors Super Sportsman and Street
Stocks kick off their season on Sunday night, May 29. Gates will open for both
the pit area and grandstand gates at 5:00 p.m. in 2005. Warmups begin at
7:00 p.m. with racing action beginning at 7:30 p.m. Race fans can continue to
expect a fast paced 2 ½ hour program each and every night. Grandstand
ticket prices remain the same as 2004 at Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17)
$8.00; Children (6-12) $4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free. Pit pass

SSP Pit Notes

was erected in the turn one pit area, more clay has been added to the track
and the public address system was upgraded and rewired by SABKO Enterprises.

system has also been added to the infield in order to reduce the water that
accumulates to the inside of the front stretch and the entrance and exit of
turns one and four.
- Weekly Sprint Car Purse Increased – Also during the off-season, SSP
announced the increase of its weekly Sprint Car purse. The starting field for a
regular point event has also been reduced from twenty four starters to twenty
