Shane Hmiel about Bristol Motor Speedway:
“Bristol Motor Speedway is my favorite track on the schedule. I always look
forward to going to Bristol because it is the track that I most want to win at.
I grew up short track racing, so I think that’s why Bristol is so special to
me. I would love to get my first Busch series win this weekend at Bristol. We
have been close to winning a few times this season, and it would be
unbelievable if we could manage to put the WINFUEL Chevrolet into victory lane there.??

Shane Hmiel about attempting his second Nextel Cup race of the 2005 season:
“My WINFUEL team has worked so hard to build this Cup program
from the ground up. Frank Kerr, my crew chief, and Todd Braun have put together a
group of hard working guys that are putting in long hours to build me fast
race cars. Unfortunately, we got involved in the lap 1 incident at Atlanta and
we didn’t get to show everyone just how fast that car really was. We tested the
short-track car that we’re going to run at Bristol and we put down some
pretty fast times. It took me a little while to get used to driving the Cup car at
Bristol, as opposed to the Busch car. I’m glad that we went and tested because
it made me a lot more confidant that we have a car that can run in the top-15.
