Midas Sells Pipe Bender Manufacturing Operation to Huth Plant Manager Joseph Becker

ITASCA, Ill.--March 28, 2005--Midas, Inc. has completed the sale of Huth, Inc., in Hartford, Wisc., to Hartford Benders, Inc., a newly formed company owned by current Huth plant manager Joseph Becker and Tom Hechimovich, owner of Hechimovich Machining, Inc., of Hartford.

The company produces Huth Benders, used in muffler installation shops to bend exhaust pipes to meet specific exhaust system applications. Midas acquired Huth in 1966.

"We are pleased to sell the Huth operation to a dedicated 34-year veteran of Midas' manufacturing activities," said Alan D. Feldman, Midas' president and chief executive officer. "Joe Becker is extremely knowledgeable about the Huth product line and is very well respected in the exhaust industry."

The sale of Huth is part of Midas' announced plan to exit the exhaust manufacturing business. The company continues in discussions to reach an agreement with a supplier for an alternate source of exhaust products for Midas shops. Midas operates a muffler manufacturing plant in Hartford that eventually will close.

The Huth manufacturing facility, which currently employs 13, is located adjacent to the muffler plant in Hartford.

Neither Midas nor Becker is releasing financial details of the transaction.

Midas is one of the world's largest providers of automotive service, offering exhaust, brake, steering and suspension services, as well as maintenance services, tires and batteries at more than 2,600 franchised, licensed and company-owned Midas shops in 19 countries, including more than 1,800 in the United States and Canada.
