Cummins Announces Uptime Guarantee for Tier 3 Engines
COLUMBUS, Ind.--March 28, 2005--Cummins Inc. has announced an Uptime Guarantee program for engines certified to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3 standards. The program, revealed at the recent CONEXPO - CON/AGG show in Las Vegas, provides assurance to the construction industry that Cummins Tier 3 engines will not only meet, but will exceed customer performance and reliability requirements. The announcement drew considerable attention at the show as this program is the first of its kind in the industry. The Uptime Guarantee is an extension of Cummins industry-leading QuickServe(R) and Mobile QuickServe(R) program. Under the guarantee, if a customer's Cummins Tier 3 engine can't be repaired within 48 hours from diagnosis, Cummins will give the customer a $500 parts and service credit.
Building on the confidence provided by the Uptime Guarantee for our 2002 automotive products, Cummins has created a comparable program for customers with Cummins-powered construction equipment.
"Our Tier 3 engines are proven, tested and highly reliable, and as a result, we are confident that the Uptime Guarantee program will provide customers looking toward 24/7 availability additional assurance in purchasing equipment powered by our engines," said Dave Crompton, Cummins Vice President - MidRange Engine Sales.
"We've invested in the right products, proven technology, people, and infrastructure to help our customers achieve the uptime they require, and this guarantee program extends our commitment to customers even further by providing world-class support second to none in the industry," he added.
The Uptime Guarantee applies to Cummins Tier 3 engines placed in service from May 1, 2005, to April 30, 2006, with 12 months' coverage from the in-service date or through April 30, 2006, whichever comes first.
Cummins Tier 3 engines feature an in-cylinder solution with minimal OEM installation impact. Cummins has been able to optimize the in-cylinder combustion system to meet Tier 3 NOx levels without the need for external hardware. In addition, the Cummins Tier 3 advanced combustion solution provides a stable engine platform that will carry customers through to 2011 and beyond.
