ASA Intermountain Pro 4 Challenge Series debuts 2005 season schedule
Boise, Idaho (March 21, 2005) 2005 marks the inaugural
season for the ASA Intermountain Pro 4 Challenge Series based out of
Boise, Idaho. The series will be contested thirteen times at four
different speedways located in Idaho and Utah in the 2005 season. Todd
Labronte, President of the ASA IP4CS is pleased with the winter progress
that the Series has made in its first year and looks forward to
presenting a quality 4 cylinder series for the fans and promoters
throughout the Intermountain West. The Series will combine the cars and
teams that have raced under the Western Idaho Racing Association Late
Model Lite division and the Utah Late Model Lites based out of Salt Lake
City, Utah.
The Series will kick off its season April 16th at the Magic Valley
Speedway in the first of three 2005 visits to the 1/3 mile banked oval.
Steve York is the promoter of the facility in Twin Falls, Idaho. The
very next week, April 23rd the Series will visit the tight track of
Meridian Speedway for the first time of four trips to the 1/4 mile
facility located in downtown Meridian, Idaho which is promoted by former
Indy Racing League standout Davey Hamilton.
The ASA IP4CS then picks up and moves south May 14th to promoter Doug
Binstock's Rocky Mountain Raceways located in West Valley City, Utah for
the first of four scheduled events in the '05 season. Also included on
the schedule is newly named Idaho Motor Speedway located in Eagle, Idaho
which will include two events this season. IMS is promoted by Adam
Nelson who recently changed the name of the racetrack from Chaparral
Speedway for the 2005 season.
The Series will run 35-50 lap feature events on the larger IMS and RMR
tracks while featuring 75 lap main events at Meridian and Magic Valley.
Each speedway will have a special event tagged on during the season in
which the series will be highlighted and visiting cars from other series
are expected to run. ASA Member track Meridian Speedway will feature a
special two-day show July 2nd and 4th called the Independence Day Cup
that made its debut in 2004. Over 40 four-cylinder teams are expected
in attendance representing six states on the west coast.
Idaho Motor Speedway will present its third annual 4-cylinder shootout
on Saturday, September 3rd on Labor Day weekend as this event also
expects 35 plus cars as it has drawn over the past two seasons of the
event. The Sunoco "100" will be staged at Magic Valley Speedway on
August 13th and a special event has been planned on August 20th at Rocky
Mountain Raceways which will include visitors from a California based
