Pedregon¹s Crew Makes Repairs for Second Round

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 18, 2005) ­ Tony Pedregon, driver of the  ŒQ¹
Racing Monte Carlo Nitro Funny Car, finished in eight position after the
first qualifying session of Mac Tools NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville
Raceway.

Pedregon, Gainesville Raceway winner in 2002, raced his car down the track
clicking-off a 5.074-second elapsed time at 245.23 mph. For a raceway known
as a Œfast track,¹ Gainesville did not offer the most favorable conditions
for the category.

³During the first run, the fuel mixture was a little too lean and damaged
one of the rod bearings which broke a connector rod,² said Pedregon. ³The
conditions today were pretty difficult with the air temperature at 47
degrees and the track at 60 degrees. Tomorrow the weather should improve and
we should be back to normal and expect to run in the mid to low 4.80¹s.

³My team did an excellent job getting the car back for the second-qualifying
session. I know the car can run well tomorrow and we¹ll get out there and do
our best. Still, the goal for us is to get to the final round on Sunday,
hopefully against Cruz (Pedregon).²
