BorgWarner Supplies Chain-Based Timing Systems to Nissan V6 Truck Engines

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 16 -- BorgWarner Morse TEC is providing complete chain-based timing systems for the Nissan V6 truck engines that power the new Pathfinder and X-Terra SUVs and the new Frontier pickup. The systems incorporate Morse TEC's small-pitch silent timing chains and supply the highly acclaimed "VQ" series V-6 engines.

"We are experiencing exciting growth with companies like Nissan that are seeking optimized solutions for their world-class engines -- including reduced noise and vibration, and improved packaging, durability and fuel efficiency," said Roger Wood, BorgWarner Morse TEC President and General Manager. "The trend toward silent chain is increasingly apparent in the world engine market, and BorgWarner is well positioned to answer the demand." Production of these VQ engines began in the fall of 2004 and continues to ramp up as new vehicles are added. Total production is expected to be about 260,000 engines.
