ZAP Commences Southeast Regional Marketing Program of ZAP Electric Autos and Fuel-Efficient SMARTCAR Models; Authorized Palm Beach, Fla., Distribution Partner to Showcase Line of Advanced ZAP Vehicles

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.--March 15, 2005--ZAP (OTCBB:ZAPZ), pioneering the next generation of advanced transportation and energy technologies, announced today that it has commenced its marketing and distribution phase for the South Florida region with delivery of a showcase of the Company's autos and other vehicles to an authorized ZAP dealership here. The announcement was made by Steve Schneider, CEO of ZAP.

ZAP's Voltage Vehicle automotive distribution subsidiary has delivered the cars to Foreign Affairs Auto, an official ZAP distribution partner based in West Palm Beach. The delivery marks the first time the Company has made its latest line of SMART Cars and other vehicles available for the South Florida general public.

The Foreign Affairs Auto dealership will feature the Smart Car Americanized by ZAP, as well as the Company's all-electric Intimidator L.U.V.(TM), and other next-generation ZAP products. ZAP is organizing a dealer network catering to fuel-efficient car buyers, with cars that specialize in advanced fuel technologies, including fuel-efficient cars powered by gas, electricity, hydrogen and other fuels.

Foreign Affairs Auto is located at 1681 N. Military Trail in West Palm Beach. For information, call (561) 478-9999.

Among ZAP's line of electric and fuel-efficient vehicles is the new Smart Car Americanized by ZAP. The Smart Car is a European-made gas-powered microcar that is providing the next generation of transportation in a stylish, environmentally responsible vehicle; it is already extremely popular throughout Europe. ZAP holds all rights to engineer the Smart Car to meet all U.S. emission and safety regulations.

ZAP is ramping up production and distribution as U.S. consumer demand for the popular two-seat Smart Car coupe continues to grow. ZAP announced last week that it had crossed the $100 million threshold of confirmed purchase orders from U.S. automotive dealers. The Company has stated that efforts to broaden its Smart Car auto dealer network throughout the country have proceeded faster and more successfully than initially projected. ZAP will also introduce other ZAP CARS through its auto dealer network as they become available. The Company is continuing to assess potential additional partners to supply the fast-growing U.S. demand for Smart Cars, and has been meeting with prospective manufacturing partners and suppliers in the U.S., China and in other countries.

ZAP officers have been in the South Florida area during the past week, displaying several of its new products and vehicles at ValueRich Small Cap Financial Expo (www.vrexpo.net), at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

In addition to the Smart Car's fuel cost savings, ZAP market research efforts have identified strong U.S. mass-market appeal in the styling and design of the microcar. Like the popular Mini Cooper(R), the ultra-compact, two-passenger Smart cars are the product of European innovation, encompassing a number of "smart" designs to create an economical car that requires less space and fuel, while providing superior safety and performance. The Smart Car's designers chose to create a two-passenger coupe that provides ample room for two adult passengers. Parking is also simplified. At eight feet in length, the car is short enough to park head-on against the curb, where other cars must parallel park; two Smart Cars can park bumper-to-bumper in a single parking space.

Other "smart" features and options of the SMART Car include a 61-hp, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, equipped with an advanced electronic stabilization program, or ESP, an anti-skid design that throttles the engine torque along with an anti-lock braking system. The unique 6-speed automatic gear transmission with kickdown function allows the user to switch between "automatic" and "manual" gear shifting via a control program that changes gears in response to varying driving characteristics. There is also an emphasis on safety, with a unibody safety cell, steel-reinforced construction, higher passenger elevation for enhanced visibility, and front and rear "crashbox" low-speed dent resistant panels. The SMART package is rounded out with additional sport features and options like dual airbags, power windows, power locking and options like air-conditioning and convertible roof.
