Modine Manufacturing and its Employees Worldwide Donate More Than $150,000 to Tsunami Relief
RACINE, Wis.--March 11, 2005--Modine Manufacturing Company , a world leader in designing thermal management solutions, from engine cooling to electronics cooling, announced today the Modine Charity Foundation and its employees worldwide have donated more than $150,000 to tsunami relief agencies. This money will be used to help the thousands of people left homeless, jobless and without resources in Southeast Asia after the deadly earthquake and tsunami."This was a horrible event that changed so many lives. We are thankful to be able to help people try to get back the basic necessities of life. Relief agencies are already at work rebuilding the infrastructure of these communities," said David Rayburn, Modine President and Chief Executive Officer.
The Modine Charity Foundation donated $50,000 in January and agreed to match up to $50,000 more from employee donations. Employees have since donated $56,000 worldwide, so Modine is immediately sending a second check for $50,000 to the American Red Cross. "We are very proud that our employees also wanted to help. They came to us and told us they wanted matching funds and we saw a real outpouring from everywhere, North America, Europe and Asia," added Rayburn. "Through our contributions to tsunami relief, men, women and children are getting the necessities they need."
The American Red Cross will receive the bulk of the donations, but funds are also going to Doctors Without Borders, German Red Cross, Catholic Relief Services, Lutheran World Relief, UNICEF, World Hunger Relief and several other charities.
