AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 10 -- DaimlerChrysler Corp.'s Human Resources department has earned the Arbor Award for Excellence for building internal hiring expertise in the areas of recruitment, selection and placement. The award was presented by The Arbor Consulting Group and Eastern Michigan University's Master of Science HR/OD program at an event at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dearborn, Mich., on March 10.
The award recognizes the success of DaimlerChrysler Corp.'s Talent Acquisition and Shared Services Group, directed by Wilma Abney, which was formed to centralize and efficiently recruit quality candidates and reduce costs.
"With the ever increasing competition for top talent, companies are continuously enhancing their recruiting and development practices. The Arbor Award of Excellence acknowledges our Talent Acquisition Group's progressive role in the company," said Nancy Rae, DaimlerChrysler Corp.'s Senior Vice President - Human Resources. "A strong focus on bringing the best talent into the company can be a long-term competitive advantage."
The Talent Acquisition department utilizes internal resources to recruit active and passive candidates for hourly, early professional, management and executive positions. Using a proven structured and systematic process, the group can deliver a list of eligible candidates to operating managers within days of the initial request.
Recognizing the need to continue building a diverse workforce, Talent Acquisition partners with DaimlerChrysler Corporation's Diversity Office to source candidates of various backgrounds through recruiting events and other networking activities. Talent Acquisition also utilizes employee referrals and the Chrysler Group Careers Web site.
"Our human resources processes enable the company to successfully implement its business strategy," added Rae. "This alignment was fundamental in the development of our new Talent Acquisition process which ensures we recruit, develop and retain the very best talent possible."
Other Arbor Award winners include Domino's Pizza, Inc., The Rehman Group, Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, Glacier Hills Retirement Community and University of Michigan Benefits Office.
