NAVTEQ Maps Selected to Enable ROUTE 66's Mobile 2006 Navigation Solution for Europe and North America

Mobile 2006 Debuts in North America at the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association's (CTIA) Wireless I.T. & Entertainment Show in New Orleans, LA

CHICAGO, March 10 -- NAVTEQ , a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has been chosen by ROUTE 66 to provide NAVTEQ maps of Europe, the United States and Canada, helping bring ROUTE 66's Mobile 2006 to the European and North American markets. NAVTEQ is also the data provider to ROUTE 66 for its range of products in Europe. ROUTE 66 will showcase the Mobile 2006 solution at the CTIA show next week in New Orleans with the solution expected to be offered by select North American retailers in Q2 2005.

ROUTE 66 identified the high quality maps and proven expertise in navigation as central to its decision to begin utilizing NAVTEQ maps of the United States and Canada for its Mobile 2006 solution. Because NAVTEQ's proprietary collection process involves driving the roads to experience the reality of the roadway, NAVTEQ maps include the detailed information necessary to ensure accurate routing. In addition, NAVTEQ maps are infused with up to 160 attributes such as turn restrictions, one-way streets and street signs, and 46 categories of points-of-interest including restaurants, hotels, gas stations and banks. This type of information is critical to creating a navigation solution with the range of functionality and options that Mobile 2006 offers and ROUTE 66 customers expect.

After being first to market for Symbian Series 60 phones with Mobile 2005 in Europe, ROUTE 66 is now bringing its personal mobile navigation products to market in North America. Mobile 2006 is the first navigation kit compatible with Symbian Series 60 and 80, Symbian UIQ and Window Mobile based phones. The kit comes with a memory stick pre-loaded with navigation software and NAVTEQ maps along with a Bluetooth GPS receiver. Users simply insert the memory stick into a compatible mobile phone, download the software and maps onto the phone and switch on the Bluetooth GPS receiver to transform their mobile phone into a complete navigation solution.

The solution provides voice and on-screen turn-by-turn routing. Users can set preferences such as the type of route (shortest or fastest), means of transportation (car, on foot and others) and distance units (kilometers or miles). Contacts' addresses residing on a user's phone can be displayed on the map to further orient the driver to the map or to their route. The history and favorite features allow selection of recent and popular destinations.

"ROUTE 66 has built a strong brand in the European wireless market so it's a logical evolution to bring this unique solution to North America. Over the last several years NAVTEQ has committed significant resources and effort to accelerating the location-based services industry. By enabling the Mobile 2006 solution in the United States, Canada and Europe, we're continuing to drive this industry forward, helping to bring an excellent LBS solution with a proven track record to the North American wireless carriers," said Winston Guillory, Senior Vice President - North American Sales for NAVTEQ.

"Because the location-based service industry is shifting and growing, agility and scalability are key elements of our product strategy. NAVTEQ maps meet a global specification and quality standard that we demand in order to bring our customers the same product excellence and user experience whether they are driving in Frankfurt, Germany or Los Angeles, CA," said Job van Dijk, Chief Commercial Officer for ROUTE 66.
