Oshkosh Truck to Expand New Product Development Facilities

OSHKOSH, Wis.--March 9, 2005--Oshkosh Truck Corporation , a leading manufacturer of specialty trucks and truck bodies, announced today that it plans to acquire additional manufacturing facilities near its headquarters in Oshkosh, Wis., and to invest in a $5-million expansion of its new product development facility.

"These capital investments were spurred by growing demand primarily in Oshkosh's defense business and are critical to staying on the leading edge of technology development for customers in all of our markets. We're pleased to be able to bring these major investments and expanded operations to our hometown," said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh's chairman, president and chief executive officer.

The company plans to break ground later this month on a 45,000-square-foot expansion of its existing new product development facility to accommodate the company's growing product and advanced technology development activities. In the past 18 months, Oshkosh has added about 200 employees to its new product development, defense engineering and manufacturing assembly, and the expanded facility will provide needed space for the expanded work force. The expansion is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of fiscal 2006.

Oshkosh Truck has also entered into a definitive agreement with the Leach Company, Inc., and its parent, Federal Signal Corporation, for the purchase of their manufacturing facility at 2737 Harrison Street in Oshkosh, Wis. Initially, Oshkosh Truck plans to use the facility, which contains over 300,000 square-feet of manufacturing, paint and office space, for remanufacturing operations for its defense customers. The facility is located approximately four miles from Oshkosh Truck's main defense production facility. The purchase is subject to customary conditions and investigations, and it is expected to close in May 20, 200505.
