Modine Achieves Production Milestone in Unique Relationship with SOGEFI S.p.A. to Supply Oil Filter Cooling Modules to European Automotive Industry

RACINE, Wis. & BONLANDEN, Germany--March 8, 2005--Marking an innovative and growing technology and product relationship, Modine Manufacturing Company , a world leader in applied thermal management, announced today the milestone shipment of its 1,000,000th oil cooler to the Filtration Division of SOGEFI S.p.A. for the assembly of a series of high-performance oil filtration cooling modules supplied to leading European automakers.

Since the manufacturing relationship began in early 2001, Modine facilities in Uden, The Netherlands and Pontevico, Italy have been producing aluminum oil coolers as a Tier 2 supplier to SOGEFI, whose advanced and wide range of oil filtration cooling modules are provided to Fiat, Renault, PSA and other global automakers.

"Collaborative technology and product integration efforts such as this are an emerging trend in automobile manufacturing, and Modine's ability to augment its Tier 1 status with Tier 2 supply opportunities is yet another source of growth for our Company," said Klaus Feldmann, Modine Group Vice President for European operations based in Bonlanden, Germany.

Indicative of the success and rapid growth of the relationship, Modine expects to produce and ship more than 1.5 million oil coolers to SOGEFI alone in 2006 from its Uden and Pontevico facilities.

To achieve ever-increasing performance demands while meeting reduced engine space requirements, Filtrauto's complete modules incorporate both oil filtration and cooling functions, ensuring the highest quality lubrication possible for internal combustion engines. The modules are instrumental in controlling oil cleanliness and temperature, which helps to extend service life for engines requiring cooled lubricating oil.

"The key to developing this strong relationship was Modine's early, active and close development relationship with SOGEFI, from the first concept idea for joint oil cooler and filter modules more than 10 years ago through today's series deliveries from our Uden and Pontevico plants," said Alex Boudewijns, Director, Sales and Marketing for Modine Europe. "During this time, we have worked hard to introduce a stream of continuous improvements in quality and logistics, as well as cost. Our customer service commitment even extends to testing complete oil filter modules for SOGEFI."

Gerald Worthington, Managing Director of the Automotive Division for Modine Europe, added, "We congratulate our Uden and Pontevico employees for this milestone event, and we look forward to extending and enhancing our relationship with SOGEFI to offer our automotive customers the highest value and most cost-effective products."
