ProQuest and Toyota Australia Sign Data Access Agreement

ProQuest Publishes Electronic Parts Catalogue for Country's Largest Automaker

RICHFIELD, Ohio, March 1 -- ProQuest Business Solutions, a subsidiary of ProQuest Company , the largest global provider of parts and service-oriented electronic catalogs for the automotive industry, signed a data access agreement with Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, Ltd., the country's largest automaker. The agreement enables ProQuest to publish an electronic parts catalogue specific to Toyota Australia, which includes Toyota and Lexus vehicle data. ProQuest will begin marketing the product to Toyota dealers throughout the country this month.

"We're excited about the opportunity to introduce our Toyota EPC in Australia and provide dealers a choice to help them optimize the efficiency of their parts operations," said Andy Wyszkowski, president of ProQuest Business Solutions. "In the U.S. and Canada, where Toyota dealers have a choice in an EPC provider, ProQuest is selected as the number one EPC provider in 90 percent of Toyota dealerships in the U.S. and nearly 100 percent in Canada. We're confident that dealerships in Australia will also realize our product's superior performance and the value ProQuest can bring to their dealerships.

"We take pride in our exceptional customer support and firm understanding of a dealership's needs, and no other EPC provider can match the wealth of experience, features and benefits, and integration capabilities of ProQuest."

ProQuest pioneered the electronic parts catalog in 1987 when it developed a powerful, flexible CD-ROM-based product for General Motors Corp. that replaced cumbersome paper- and microfiche-based systems. ProQuest has continued to innovate and bring unprecedented features and benefits to EPCs for more than 20 automakers around the world today.

"Toyota Australia continually strives to provide our dealers with the best products and services," said John Cutler, manager of market planning CSD, Toyota Australia. "ProQuest EPCs have a proven track record around the world, and we expect that our dealers will find this product a useful and effective tool for their parts business operations."

ProQuest's EPC solution offers fast, error-free searches by part name or number in addition to vehicle-specific parts. Comprehensive parts information for Toyota and Lexus passenger vehicles from 1969 to current is contained on a single DVD, which is updated monthly and delivered to dealers on a subscription basis. It also contains optional VIN decoding and filtering that displays vehicle-specific parts information by entering the VIN's last eight- digits.

The ProQuest Toyota EPC also integrates with more than 70 dealer management systems (DMS) around the globe to help streamline workflow in the parts department. To further improve parts department efficiency, ProQuest and local DMS company Reynolds and Reynolds will bring an advanced level of integration to dealers that provides pricing, availability, bin location and parts searches without leaving the EPC application.

In addition, ProQuest's Toyota EPC is available with the company's latest product enhancement, Q.link. Q.link provides the unique capability of having the EPC update performed over a dealership's Internet connection, which enables more frequent updates and even greater accuracy and efficiency. The updates are fully automated and transparent to the dealer. Q.link eliminates the need for dealerships to run their system update every month when the new DVD arrives.
