SSA Global Wins IBM PartnerWorld Beacon Award for Best Solution with a New Strategic Alliance

LAS VEGAS--Feb. 28, 2005--SSA Global(TM), a leading provider of extended enterprise solutions and services has been named winner in the "Best Solution with a New Strategic Alliance category" of the annual IBM Beacon Awards competition. The company will accept the award at the IBM PartnerWorld Conference in Las Vegas, February 27 - March 2.

SSA Global, an IBM Premier Business Partner, established an alliance with IBM last year to jointly develop, market and deliver comprehensive, integrated offerings that combine SSA Global's extended ERP solutions with IBM eServers, middleware, and database management applications.

The thousands of customers that currently leverage both SSA Global and IBM solutions can now further reduce total cost of ownership and time-to-value. For example, Greif, Inc., a worldwide leader in industrial packaging, integrated SSA Global solutions on new IBM Series* Power 5* platform to create a consolidated IT infrastructure. As a result, Greif streamlined its 50-plus North American industrial packaging plants to a single data center, standardized on SSA ERP and has already saved more than $1 million in IT costs.

"This ambitious move has enabled Greif to achieve 40 percent infrastructure cost savings from the hardware consolidation, and become a more agile business through its use of a single SSA ERP solution and better management reporting tools," said Donn Atkins, general manager, IBM Global Business Partners. "SSA Global demonstrates great passion, determination, and a keen understanding of their clients' needs."

"Earning this IBM Beacon Award, especially in the category of Best Solution with a New Strategic Alliance, is testament to the strength of the IBM and SSA Global partnership. It exemplifies how the right solution and collaboration can create substantial and quantifiable value for clients," said Graeme Cooksley, executive vice president of SSA Global. "The SSA Global portfolio of extended enterprise solutions, our strategic alliance with IBM and our commitment to IBM Websphere Business Integration ensures customers that we can address their key business drivers and help them compete in the on demand world."
