Friday’s nhra lucas oil drag racing action 

at Gainesville raceway a wash out

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Rain forced the cancellation of the initial rounds of qualifying at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Gainesville Raceway today. NHRA and track officials had hoped to get some racing in once the rain stopped around 3 p.m. but cooling temperatures made it difficult to get the track dried.

The action will pick up Saturday at when gates open at 8 a.m. Qualifying and time trials will start at 9 a.m. The Top Sportsman class will qualify at 2:20 and 5:30 p.m. and Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualifying sessions are scheduled at 3 and 6 p.m. Eliminations will begin Sunday.
