Nissan, Renault Develop New Common Navigation and Communication System

Tokyo Feb 23, 2005; Aki Tsukioka writing for JCNN reported that Renault and Nissan Motor announced on February 21 that they have jointly developed a new common navigation and communication system. It will be fitted in the new Nissan Pathfinder and Renault Laguna, marking the first application of the system in the European market.

The main control unit is equipped with a Bluetooth wireless function offering users the convenience of hands-free functionality when using a compatible mobile phone. The new navigation system also features traffic information receiving capability, accurate route guidance and clear map visibility in both 2D and 3D mode.

The new system is available in four versions, which will be introduced to each automaker???fs new models.
