Bricklin's newest venture -- Visionary Vehicles -- represents the first new car company of the 21st century, and will be importing and distributing the first "signature" line of cars and light trucks .- an exciting new brand of aggressively priced, beautifully styled, high-quality vehicles .- from China into North America.
The theme of Bricklin's presentation will be "A Common Sense Approach to the Future of the Automotive Industry" and will outline his plan for revolutionizing the U.S. automobile market. Topics to be covered:
* Why the U.S. auto industry needs a transformation in order to survive. * Dealer empowerment, consumer empowerment -- the new way. * The role China will play in transforming the U.S. auto industry by satisfying unmet domestic demand. * How the Chery-Visionary Vehicles partnership will redefine luxury at new price points in the U.S. market. * An overview of Chery Automobile's state-of-the-art technology and facilities. * The unrelenting pursuit by the Chinese government and Chery Automobile to improve the quality of its exports.
In 1968, Bricklin founded Subaru of America, Inc., now a leading importer of Japanese cars with U.S. sales of more than 187,000 vehicles. During the 1970s, he founded Bricklin Motors and produced the world's first "safety sports car," which was well designed, easy-to-drive, and decades ahead of its time in terms of driver safety. In the 1980s, he formed Yugo America, Inc. With 160,000 vehicles sold during its launch phase, the Yugo quickly became the fastest selling European import in automotive history. Today, Bricklin has returned to the roots of his success: Asian automobile imports.
