Nascar Busch Series: Robinson finishes 27th in Daytona

Daytona Beach, Fl. – Shawna Robinson piloted the #23
Vassarette Chevrolet to a 27th place finish in her
return to the Nascar Busch Series at the Hershey’s
Take 5 300 in Daytona Beach on Saturday.
Robinson, who started at the back of the field due to
an engine change, moved up steadily through the day to
finish in the top 30.
“With the engine change we had our work cut out for us
but the crew did a great job on the car,” said
Robinson. “It got a little tight toward the end but
I’m glad I was able to hang on and finish the race for
Vassarette and Keith Coleman Racing.”
Because the team had difficulty finding a good
drafting partner, Robinson was forced to make up
ground without any help for most of the afternoon.
“We just weren’t getting any help from the cars
behind us,” said crew chief Mike Byrd. “They weren’t
fast enough to run with us and we weren’t able to get
the push we needed.”
“Right now I’m happy to have finished the race,”
Robinson added. “A lot of things came together in a
short period of time to make this happen and finishing
on the lead lap is a great start. We’ll work our way
up in the field as the season goes on.”
The team will race again in the Stater Bros. 300 next
week in Fontana, Calif.
