ARCA Lake Erie date changed

ARCA RE/MAX Series Race Date At Lake Erie Changed

TOLEDO, OH (2-19-05)-The date of the 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series race event at Pennsylvania's Lake Erie Speedway has been changed from the originally announced date of Saturday August 6 to a date one day earlier, Friday August 5.

"Leading the new management team here at Lake Erie Speedway, we appreciate ARCA's flexibility in accommodating our needs to run the RE/MAX Series event on Friday," said Lake Erie Speedway General Manager Joe Lewandoski, who assumed management of the track in January. "Our business plan is for Friday nights to be the primary dates for racing action in 2005 at Lake Erie, and it only makes sense that we run a touring series event as significant as the ARCA RE/MAX Series on the night we'll be promoting all season long."

The ARCA RE/MAX Series has run twice at Lake Erie since 2003, with Frank Kimmel and Billy Venturini each recording pole qualifying runs and Kimmel winning both 200-lap race events.

"Lake Erie is a class short track facility and an important stop on the ARCA RE/MAX Series tour, and we want all the pieces in place for the event to be as successful as possible," said ARCA President Ron Drager. "One of the benefits of moving the event to Friday night is a built-in reschedule date of Saturday Aug. 6 should we encounter inclement weather on Friday Aug. 5, considering the challenge of travel our teams face week to week."

In addition to the ARCA RE/MAX Series race, Lake Erie Speedway will host the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series for the 3rd consecutive season on Friday May 27.
