Reed Sorenson Pilots the Discount Tire Dodge to a Fifth-Place Starting
Spot at Daytona
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 18, 2004) --- Reed Sorenson maneuvered his
Discount Tire Dodge around the 2.5-mile tri-oval of Daytona
International Speedway in 49.524 seconds and ended up fifth fastest for
the Hershey TAKE 5 300 at Daytona International Speedway.
"I'm happy," Sorenson said. "This is the guy's work, right here;
qualifying is all them. I told them before I went out, there is two
places, here and Talladega, where it's all you guys. I think it will
hold up for a top-five at least. The way the wind is right here I think
the gear that we had in it actually helped us. I think it worked out
pretty well. I think we'll end up okay. I don't think it will be the
pole, but I think it will be okay. You always want to start the season
off good. I think that's the main thing. You just want to start the
season off well and there's always that big wreck that you've got to
worry about here and just trying to avoid that."
Sorenson and the Discount Tire Dodge will start fifth on Saturday for
his first start at Daytona International Speedway.
The Hershey TAKE 5 300 will be broadcast live on Fox television on
Saturday, February 19 at 1:00 p.m. EST.
