MILWAUKEE, Feb. 17 -- Johnson Controls, Inc. will be awarded the U.S. Black Engineer Supplier Diversity Award during The Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Annual Conference, February 17-19, 2005 in Baltimore, Maryland. Johnson Controls Project Manager Senthi Senthilmurugan will also be honored with the Modern Day Technology Leader Award.

"Johnson Controls continues to make gains in our commitment toward workforce and supplier diversity," said Darrell Middleton, vice president - human resources, Controls Group of Johnson Controls. "We have received national recognition for our supplier diversity program. Now, I am especially pleased to have the individual efforts of one of our own engineers nationally recognized for his engineering excellence among industry peers."

For nearly 20 years, the Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference attracts top professionals and students from every part of the nation and every field of science, engineering, and technology. It offers seminars and workshops presenting new information on a variety of topics affecting Black technology professionals such as career advancement, diversity programs and specialized industry updates. The event is put on by Career Communications Group, Inc. which publishes US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine.

Johnson Controls also will receive the "US Black Engineer Supplier Diversity Award" for its best in class business processes. The award is regarded as the highest recognition a corporation can receive for conducting business with minority- and women-owned firms. Johnson Controls is the first non-consumer products company to receive the award.

At the conference, Johnson Controls will host the Black CEO Summit- Executive Meet & Greet where Johnson Controls Board Member and former Mayor of Detroit, Dennis Archer, will serve as the keynote speaker.
